How to detox your body with a refined-sugar free diet

How to detox your body with a refined-sugar free diet

The team at strp’d are all partaking in a 30 day refined sugar detox and we want to invite you to join us along the way.

Let’s start with our reasons for giving up refined sugar:

  1. We overindulged over the Christmas period

  2. We have been craving something sweet after every meal

  3. We have been snacking ALL the time and even the “healthier” snacks contain sugar

If you can relate to any of the above, read on and join us on this detox journey!

Detoxing is about more than just cutting calories. It’s about making the right choices so that you can lead a healthier life.

To help you stay on track we have provided refined-sugar free recipes that will teach you how to detox your body.

Breakfast

It’s important to start your day with a balanced and healthy breakfast each morning. Here are some of our favourite breakfast recipes that are completely refined sugar-free and totally delicious.

  1. Baked Chocolate Breakfast Bowl

  2. Antioxidant Tigernut Bowl

  3. Paleo Pancakes

Lunch

Detoxing from sugar is an individualised process. However, there are some general guidelines to follow as you detox from sugar, including making simple swaps. Here is some delicious lunch inspiration:

  1. Chickpea-free Beetroot Hummus with Italian-herbed Tigernut Crackers

  2. Plant-based Pizza

  3. Grain-free Tigernut Seeded Loaf

Snacks

When reaching for a mid-afternoon snack, it’s all too easy to grab for something convenient and sugar-laden, that will leave you feeling sluggish and unsatisfied. So, here are a few delicious suggestions that are detox-compliant and will leave you feeling fuller for longer:

  1. Anti-inflammatory Chai Spiced Bliss Balls

  2. Nut-free Notella

  3. Tigernut Protein Energy Balls

Dessert

If you're looking to manage those sweet cravings that will inevitably occur when starting on a refined-sugar free detox, try these out:

  1. Dairy Free Mango Nice Cream

  2. Paleo Skillet Cookie

  3. Grain-free Vegan Brownies

Sugar-free diets are becoming more common as people become more aware of their sugar consumption and the link between sugar and your overall health. A 30 day sugar detox will help remove toxins resulting in more energy, weight loss and revitalised skin.

It can be difficult to adjust to a refined sugar-free diet. When we last tried it we went through withdrawls for the three days but then after that felt incredibly energised. It also means that you never feel over-full after a meal-out!

but it can be difficult to adjust to a refined sugar-free diet.

Our advice, based on previous experience is to start with a few small changes. By gradually making more changes, you’ll be able to detox your body without feeling deprived or overwhelmed.
